Website-Manager Standard Edition

Web site owners appreciate the advance features found in the Standard edition. No matter what type of Web site you own, tracking and reporting on your positions on a regular basis is critical to the success of your Web site.

Below is a list of tasks available in the Standard edition. These tasks are presented in the order in which they are in the program, which is generally the order you complete these tasks when creating a new project for your Web site. If you're a professional SEO or SEM, you'll want to check out the features in the Professional edition as well.

Website Module

The Website module contains common tasks to all projects. Data entered here is normally shared with other modules and tasks in Website-Manager.

Domain Names

The Domain Names task provides information generally used as filters by reporting tasks. Domain names can be grouped into user defined categories for reporting and other purposes. You can also import domain names from files or paste them in from the clipboard.

Keywords

The Keywords task provides the search terms for the Check Positions task (ranking) and can be used as filters by the reporting tasks. Like domain names, keywords can be grouped into categories for both ranking and reporting purposes. You can also import keywords from files or paste them in from the clipboard.

Search terms can be entered in any language and can be mixed within a project. Website-Manager handles most of the world's alphabets, including Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese and Korean. Website-Manager is fully Unicode compliant.

Search Engines

The Search Engines task is where you create selections of search engines for the Check Positions task (ranking) and for reporting. Website-Manager supports search engines other than natural search. For instance, Website-Manager currently supports News engines for tracking press releases and other types of news. Later on, Website-Manager will also support shopping, blog, and adult search engines for coverage in various markets.

Website-Manager supports US and international search engines. Queries sent to foreign search engines use the preferred encoding for that search engine. This means if your project has Japanese text and you search a Japanese search engine like Goo, your queries will be handled correctly by the search engine.

Ranking Module

The Ranking module contains tasks for ranking your Web site and reporting on those rankings.

Engine Options

The Engine Options task allows you to adjust, or fine tune, how search engines are queried. This includes things such as setting query delays, and overriding HTTP headers sent to the search engines. For example, you might change the Accept-Language header for a search engine to keep it from redirecting you to your language specific version.

Check Positions

The Check Positions task is where you perform a ranking on a category group of keywords and search engines. All ranking data is stored in your project and can be accessed through reporting. Each result from a search engine result page (SERP) is individually extracted and stored. Matching results is therefore delayed until the reporting step, which gives you more control over reporting.

Extra information extract from the search engines can depend on whether a search engine provides it or not. If a search engine provides the information, Website-Manager will generally collect that information. For instance, spelling suggestions and the total number of results for your query can be collected when available.

Reports

The Reports task has 28 stock report you can run on data collected from the Check Positions task. Since all data is collected from the search engines, you have more reports available to you than in competing products. This includes reports like Spelling Suggestion and Competitor summary reports.

Support Module

The Support module contains tasks that help support Website-Manager.

Project Browser

The Project Browser task is an advanced feature for those that are more SQL savvy. The Project Browser allows you to query your project using standard SQL syntax and save the results to a CSV file. Frequently used queries can be saved, and snippets of common SQL syntax can be created for reuse.
