Settings under the Ranking tab affect how Website-Manager performs rankings.

Engines

Change this value when you want Website-Manager to query more or less search engines while ranking. Usually you would change this setting only if you are on dial-up or an extremely fast Internet connection. Dial-up users should change this value to somewhere between 1 and 4 engines. The maximum number of engines you can query at one time is 25.

Seconds

Website-Manager can terminate a ranking in progress for any engine that exceeds a set number of seconds. This can help prevent your project from hanging on one or more engines that aren't responding in a timely manner. For example, if you're running scheduled projects at night and one engine is not responding, your project could take twice as long or longer to finish. Setting a terminate value keeps that wasted time to a minimum.

Search Engines that were terminated during a search are indicated by a red dot to the left of the keyword that was terminated. These engine/keyword combinations will contain no ranking data. You can always re-query the keyword using the right-click menu.

Retry Attempts

Change this value when you want Website-Manager to retry failed ranking attempts. The default is to retry a keyword/engine combination up to 3 times before giving up. A failed attempt is indicated by a red dot to the left of the keyword on the Check Positions task.
